Showed this in class today, it went really well. People loved the immersiveness and expansiveness of it – this is turning out to be an issue. The final assignment has a size requirement, and this would vastly exceed it. I thought about chopping most of the cave, just having a small environment for the player to navigate. I’m heavily against because, then the luster would be lost. The entire point is to have this large network of tunnels that connect different aspects of the cave. You the typical NPCs which just move haphazardly with slow animations, you have the ‘living’ NPCs that sit on couches and chill near statues, then you have the spiritual NPCS. All of these are connected in a really awesome way, and without that space between them, I think it would be difficult to build that same level of depth.
Even though I’ve put so much time into this, I’m going to have to do another world completely. I want something that’s very large, but also within the budget of our assignment. So I’ll start something from scratch and Ideate how to make it engaging while still maintaining a fairly small size.
